🚐 For renters

1. The Campanda basics

1.1 How does Campanda work?

  1. Choose and send a request If you’re looking for the perfect camper for your vacation, the best place to start is the Campanda Homepage. Once you enter your starting location and desired travel dates, you’ll be shown all available campers in your area. You can further refine your search results, for example, by vehicle type, price, or the number of available sleeping spots. Once you find your desired camper, submit a non-binding request to the rental company. By submitting multiple rental requests, you can avoid potential availability issues.
  2. Receive and compare offers After submitting your request, it will be sent directly to the rental company, and you’ll receive a response or offer in a timely manner. You can clarify any remaining questions directly with the rental company. Once you receive an offer, you can book it directly.
  3. Book and enjoy your camping trip Once you’ve accepted the offer, the camper is officially booked. Payment will be processed after booking. Now there’s nothing stopping you from enjoying your camping trip!

1.2 Do I have to register with Campanda?

Visiting the Campanda website and viewing the vehicles available for rent does not require any kind of registration. However, as soon as you submit a rental request, Campanda automatically creates a user account for you. Your login credentials will be sent to you via email. The username is the email address provided by the user during registration. The user sets their own password, which can be changed at any time via the password-protected login area of the platform. If you want to delete your Campanda account, please contact our customer service team at service@campanda.com. The request to delete the account must come from the email address registered with us that you want to delete. We will take care of deleting your data immediately after.

1.3 Who are the vehicle owners?

The RV rental companies at Campanda come from all over the world and can be both large companies with a fleet of over 1.000 vehicles and smaller companies with only one vehicle. Campanda itself does not own any vehicles and does not act as the rental company. Campanda solely mediates the rental vehicles directly from the professional on site.

1.4 Are all vehicles always available?

Campanda does not own any vehicles, but rather arranges for the rental of campers directly from professional rental companies on site. Availability is therefore dependent on how regularly and meticulously the respective lessors update and maintain their availability. In a few rare cases, rental requests may be declined. We therefore recommend always making multiple rental requests to avoid possible fully booked situations.

1.5 Which driver’s license do I need?

The specific driver’s license required to rent an RV may vary depending on the location and the type of RV. In general, most rental companies require that the driver of the RV be at least 25 years old and possess a valid driver’s license. In terms of the type of driver’s license required, most standard Class C RVs can be driven with a regular driver’s license (Class D or equivalent), but larger Class A or Class B motorhomes may require a special license, such as a commercial driver’s license (CDL) or a non-commercial Class B license. It’s best to check with the rental company directly to confirm their specific requirements before booking a rental.

1.6 At what age can I rent a motorhome?

Almost all motorhome rentals require a minimum age. In addition, some rental companies also have a maximum age limit. You can find detailed information on this on the listing page under the rental conditions section.

1.7 Can I bring my pet?

Many rental companies allow their tenants to bring pets, but not all. Simply activate the “Pets allowed” filter in the search results on Campanda. Furthermore, the rental conditions section in the vehicle details always states whether pets are allowed and if additional costs apply. Additional costs or the option to bring pets as an additional booking option are indicated in the rental conditions.

1.8 Do I have electricity in the motorhome?

Most motorhomes come standard with a power connection. The power can be supplied either through the cigarette lighter with an appropriate adapter (for charging a mobile phone or similar device), a battery, or a solar system, and/or can be bought externally at the campsite and supplied through the external power connection. The amount of power available depends on the vehicle; therefore, it is best to clarify the details with the rental company.

1.9 Can I travel abroad with the motorhome?

Most rental companies allow trips abroad. You can find detailed information on this in the respective terms and conditions of the lessor or in abbreviated form directly on the vehicle detail page in the rental conditions section.

2. Request and booking

2.1 How do I send a booking request?

After finding your desired camper on Campanda, you can submit a non-binding request to the rental company. By submitting multiple rental requests, you can avoid potential bookings. As part of the inquiry, you will provide your rental company with all the important data about your trip. Afterwards, you will receive a response or an offer directly from your lessor, which you can then book directly.

2.2 What does “Directely bookable” mean?

Offers marked as “Directly bookable” on Campanda can be booked directly and bindingly without the need for the lessor to create an offer. You can identify these offers in the Campanda search results by the label on the preview image.

2.3 What happens after I make a booking request?

Your booking request will be forwarded directly to the respective rental company. The lessor checks the received data and then contacts you or sends you a bookable offer directly. During the entire process, you always have the option to communicate with the lessor, submit additional data, or clarify any open questions.

2.4 How long do I have to wait for a response to my booking request?

Rental companies on Campanda always try to respond to incoming booking requests as quickly as possible, usually within 24 to 48 hours. However, in individual cases, processing times may be longer, for example, for requests made on holidays or in the midst of the peak season. In general, the opening hours of the respective rental company must also be taken into account.

2.5 What happens if my booking request is rejected?

If your lessor is unable to provide the vehicle in the event of a cancellation or for maintenance reasons, and if there is no alternative travel date that suits you, your lessor will unfortunately have to decline the booking request. You will be informed of the rejection by email. Our recommendation: Submit multiple rental inquiries in parallel to compare different offers and also avoid possible bookings being sold out.

2.6 Where can I find information about my booking request?

After submitting a booking request on Campanda, you will receive all important information regarding your request via email. Additionally, you will be informed of all important steps via email. You can also obtain an overview of the status of your rental requests and messages in your Campanda account. Once you have submitted your first rental request, you will be granted access to this area and can log in at any time.

2.7 Am I insured and what do I have to look out for in the insurance?

When you rent an RV, it is common for the rental company to offer some level of insurance coverage as part of the rental agreement. The specific coverage and insurance options can vary depending on the rental company and the location, so it’s important to review the rental agreement and insurance policy carefully before you sign. Generally, the rental company’s insurance will provide coverage for damage to the RV and liability protection in case of an accident. However, the coverage and limits may not be enough to fully protect you in all situations, and there may be exclusions or limitations in the policy. If you have your own auto insurance policy, it may provide some additional coverage when you are renting an RV. It’s important to check with your insurance provider to see what type of coverage you have and how it applies to renting an RV. Ultimately, it’s important to review the rental agreement and insurance policy carefully, ask any questions you have, and consider purchasing additional insurance or increasing coverage limits if you feel it is necessary to adequately protect yourself.

2.8 Which terms and conditions apply and where can I find them?

For the use of Campanda, our GTC apply, which you can access from the footer area of the Campanda website. When booking a vehicle, the GTC of the rental company apply, which you can view and download on the vehicle details page.

3. Payment and cancellation

3.1 I cannot start my trip. Do I still have to pay the full price?

The amount of the cancellation fees vary from one rental company to another and depend on the time of cancellation. How much you have to pay in case of a cancellation, you can read in the terms and conditions of the respective rental company. Basically, we recommend a travel cancellation insurance. Should you not be able to start your trip, this travel cancellation insurance will cover the cancellation costs if there are serious reasons for the cancellation (e.g. serious illness, serious accident, pregnancy).

3.2 What extra costs can I expect?

In addition to the total rental price, there may be costs for any extra miles or kilometers driven or extra insurance taken out. Some rental companies charge a fee if the vehicle was not returned in its original condition (e.g. insufficient fuel, waste water tanks were not emptied or the vehicle was not cleaned). In addition, extras such as bed linen, navigation devices, etc. are often offered in the additional options section on the vehicle details page, which can be booked for an additional fee.

3.3 How is the price composed and are there extra costs?

Campanda works with very many different rental companies. We always try to give the total price of the vehicle as transparent as possible for our customers. In individual cases, the price of the request may differ from the price of the offer. As a rule, the total price for a motorhome rental is shown as a price per night. This total price may also include other costs such as mileage allowance and insurance. In addition, many of our rental companies charge a one-time rental service fee, which – depending on the rental company – may include the cost of instruction and return of the vehicle as well as the provision of a gas bottle and toilet chemicals. Depending on the rental company, you can also book additional services such as camping furniture, tableware, additional insurance or an airport transfer. You will always find a more detailed list of individual costs in the offer you received from us by e-mail. All prices are inclusive of the statutory sales tax.

3.4 How to pay and what payment methods are available?

At Campanda, the deposit is paid online at the time of booking. In principle, we offer as payment methods credit card, direct debit and instant bank transfer. Which payment methods are available to you, but ultimately depends on the currency and the booking deadline. A booking with credit card (Visa or MasterCard) is always possible. If you have any questions about this, please contact our service team at service@campanda.com. The final payment for your booking is usually to be paid to the lessor, but in some cases to Campanda (see also out terms and conditions, which you can access from the footer area of the Campanda website). You will receive detailed instructions on this as part of your booking.

3.5 At what time do I have to pay for my booking?

Unless otherwise agreed with the lessor or with Campanda, payment must be made immediately upon completion of the booking. Depending on the offer conditions and the conditions of the rental company, the entire final price or, if necessary, initially only a deposit is to be paid at the conclusion of the booking. More detailed information on this can be found in the rental conditions of your rental company or in the Campanda terms and conditions.

3.6 How much is the security deposit?

The amount of the security deposit as well as the way of service can be found in the rental conditions of the respective vehicle site, as they depend on the respective rental company.

3.7 When will I receive my refund?

You will receive your refund, after deduction of applicable cancellation fees, directly from your lessor. Prerequisite for this is that you have set up the cancellation in writing and this has been confirmed by the lessor and Campanda. In any case, please contact your rental company directly. If there are any problems with your lessor, please contact our service team directly at service@campanda.com.

3.8 Can I cancel a booking?

If you need to cancel your booking, the cancellation conditions of the respective rental company apply. Please note that each rental company sets these conditions themselves. Although we try to convince lessors to be flexible during this difficult time, you may have to pay a cancellation fee according to the terms you accepted in the booking process. If you need to cancel your booking, please contact us immediately at service@campanda.com. To ensure the fastest possible processing, please provide us with your booking number and the travel period. You can also find more information about the cancellation policy in our terms and conditions, which you can access from the footer area of the Campanda Website.

3.9 How can I change my booking?

If you wish to change the travel period, we will be happy to take care of it. Please take the following steps to adjust your booking.
  1. Contact the renal company directly to request a change of travel period.
  2. Once you have agreed with the lessor on an alternative travel period, please send an email including your booking number and the new travel period to service@campanda.com.
  3. If there is a difference in price compared to the original travel period, we will contact you for a refund or additional payment if necessary.

4. From handover to return

4.1 What should I pay attention to during the handover?

The handover of the camper is the ideal time to find out all the important details and specifics of your rented vehicle. Before your booking starts, discuss with your lessor the time as well as the place of the handover. Allow enough time for everything to be shown to you at your leisure. Don’t forget to bring these documents with you to the handover:
  • Driver’s license (and those of the additional drivers, if applicable)
  • Identity card (and those of the additional drivers, if applicable)
  • The deposit (by credit card or cash, depending on the agreement)
During the handover
  1. Fill out the handover protocol together with the lessor as accurately as possible.
  2. The inventory and documentation of the ACTUAL condition are crucial for a successful handover. Take sufficient time for this. This applies to the exterior (body) as well as the interior (interior).
  3. Take time for a test drive. You can get to know the vehicle best under guidance.

4.2 What should be considered when returning the vehicle?

After your vacation, you should return a cleaned vehicle to the rental company. This includes emptying the toilet and the waste water tank. Also check whether a final cleaning is included in the price. If this is the case or you have booked a final cleaning, it is sufficient if you only empty the tanks, dispose of your garbage and return the vehicle broom-clean. You should also always return the vehicle with a full tank, or with the fill level with which the vehicle was handed over to you. If you return the vehicle with a lower fuel level than when you picked it up, you may be subject to additional charges. For exact information regarding the regulations on refueling and fill level as well as possible additional costs, you should check the terms and conditions of the rental company before departure.

4.3 Is there a mileage limit?

Many rental companies on Campanda already indicate on the vehicle details page what the mileage limit is. It’s best to let your lessor know where you want to travel with the camper and how many miles or kilometers you plan to drive. Afterwards you have the possibility to define the range more precisely. As soon as you are in agreement and a booking has been agreed, this agreement should be recorded in writing. For example, the handover protocol can be used for this purpose.

4.4 I received a traffic ticket. Who pays?

The ticket is always paid by the person who caused it, i.e. you as the renter and driver. If you have received a parking ticket, we recommend that you inform the rental company about it at the latest when you return the vehicle.

4.5 What happens in the event of an accident or breakdown?

You should clarify what happens in the event of an accident with the rental company before you leave. Please make sure that you have an emergency number of the roadside assistance or the lessor at hand. You can find more information about this in the GTC of the rental company.
